Home Sweet Home

Moving to Fort Bragg was a huge adjustment for our family, but we are settling in and enjoying life living on an army post. We have made new friends, checked out some of the amenities here on Bragg, and visited a new church. Here are a few pictures from this weekend.

We have a pretty flower garden right in front of our house.

The kids love to pick flowers for Mommy!

Kendall loves to water the flowers.

We have a wonderful neighborhood pool.

The kids have so much fun playing at Wilson Park which is also on post.

Kendall is a Super Star!

Kendall started going to a Mother's Day Out program two days a week. Today was her third day, and she had the Super Star responsibility of being Line Leader! She likes everything about her new school. One day she has music class which she loves and the other day she gets to check books out at the library. This is one more thing that we will definitely miss when we move to North Carolina.

My Latest Super Saving Shopping Success

If you aren't already shopping at Rite Aid, you should start if you are interested in saving money. My total before coupons came to $40.96, and after coupons $15.96! Rite Aid lets you stack coupons which means you can use both a store coupon AND a manufacturers coupon on the same item. The Claritin cost 18.99 alone, but I had a store coupon for $5 and a manufacturers coupon for $5. The toothpaste was buy one get one free, and I used two $1 manufacturers coupons. Also, I use the Rite Aid Wellness card which helps you to save money as well. You accumulate points with each purchase, so I had a $5 off of a $25 purchase and a $3 off of a $15 purchase coupon to use from my points. I also had $5 worth of +up reward coupons that printed out from my last purchase. I try to stack coupons AND buy items that will earn +up reward coupons off of future purchases to maximize my savings. Make sure you check out the Rite Aid sale ad on Sunday to start saving.

My Kroger Mini Haul

I didn't buy much at Kroger today, but I didn't pay much either. The total came to $13.20, but I only paid 1.38 thanks to coupons! If you shop at a Kroger, you should go to www.Kroger.com/digitalcoupons. You can now upload digital coupons to your Kroger Reward Card to shop with in the store. Happy saving!

TV Free Thursday

It was a TV free day in the Johnson household today! We played outside in the backyard (it was nearly 70 degrees in Virginia Beach), went to the YMCA, had a crazy, chaotic trip to the Harris Teeter, enjoyed a home-cooked dinner (made by ME!) at the dinner table together, and read some of Dr. Seuss's best books! Now, I'd like to say that we had a TV free day because I just decided to do better things with our time, but it was actually the result of somebody's misbehavior. As it turns out, something that was intended to be punishment ended up being quality time for the family. After cleaning up from dinner, I walked into the den to find my sweet children cuddled up and reading in a chair. I predict that there are going to be many more tv free nights in our home.

Wintergreen Vacation

We had a wonderful family vacation at Wintergreen! We didn't open the computer, text, or call anybody. It was just us for 3 nights and 2 days, and it was perfect!

Ready to go to the resort for the day

We ate lunch at a restaraunt with a view of the slopes.

Kendall hiking through the snow.

Dylan on his way to tubing!

Dave and Dylan had lots of fun tubing on both mornings.
Dave took Dylan night skiing.

We found a patch of land on the way up to Skyline Drive to stop and play. I thought that we would check it out for 10 or 15 minutes, but we ended up staying for more than an hour.

There was a little mountain to climb up.

This sign was laying down in front of the road to Skyline Drive.
Dave told me that he didn't want to offend me, but he didn't think that I was strong enough to climb the mountain.

I showed him!!!
